Damilola Orimogunje’s period drama, Dear Ajayi, will have its world premiere in competition at the 23rd Giornate degli Autori, also known as Venice Days, during the 83rd Venice International Film Festival in September 2026. The selection makes Dear Ajayi the first Nigerian production to compete in the Venice Days section. Set in 1990s south-western Nigeria, the film follows estranged sisters Ade and Titi Ajayi as they reunite to care for their paralysed mother and confront grief, faith, love and unresolved family conflict. The cast includes Bimbo Akintola, Uzoamaka Power, Antar Laniyan, Tosin Adeyemi, Michelle Dede, Lanre Hassan Adesina, William Benson, Chioma Omeruah, Tope Tedela and Baaj Adebule. The achievement adds to Orimogunje’s growing record on the international film festival circuit.
