Open Heavens Devotional for October 17: Shielded by God’s Fire

Today’s devotional reflects on God as a consuming fire who protects His people. Drawing from Deuteronomy 9:3 and Exodus 14, it presents God’s presence as a shield for those who belong to Him and a source of fear for their adversaries. The message recalls how Samson’s ropes were burned, how Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the furnace unharmed, and how the pillar of fire protected the Israelites. It encourages believers to trust God for protection, healing and freedom from every form of bondage. Prayer point: Ask God to be a wall of fire around you and your loved ones, and to keep you in His care.
