Scammed by a Japa Agent? Steps to Take and Where to Report

If you suspect a travel or relocation agent has scammed you, contact your bank immediately. Share the transaction details, the recipient’s account information and evidence of your conversations. If the bank does not respond promptly, escalate the complaint to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s consumer-protection unit. You can also report a registered travel agency to the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies. File a fraud complaint with the EFCC, and contact the FCCPC where a registered agency used its business to deceive you. Keep copies of every payment receipt, message, agreement and official response. If the agent is abroad, report the case to the relevant anti-fraud authorities in that country as well. Acting quickly and reporting through several channels may improve the chances of tracing the money and holding the agent accountable.
