Court Upholds Ekumankama as APC Candidate for Afikpo/Edda Reps Seat

A Federal High Court in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has dismissed a pre-election suit challenging Joseph Ekumankama’s emergence as the APC candidate for the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election. Idu Igariwey, who also contested the APC primary, had asked the court to invalidate Ekumankama’s victory and direct the party and INEC to recognise him as the duly nominated candidate. Justice Hilary Ide Oshomah held that the case lacked merit and dismissed it. The ruling leaves Ekumankama as the APC candidate for the constituency. Ekumankama’s lawyer welcomed the judgment, while counsel to Igariwey had not responded at the time of the report.
