Travelling Abroad? Keep Secure Copies of These Important Documents
Losing your passport, phone or luggage abroad can quickly turn a trip into a stressful emergency. Before leaving Nigeria, keep secure backup copies of key documents such as your passport, visa, flight itinerary, hotel booking, travel insurance, yellow fever card, emergency contacts and any medical information you may need. Keep physical photocopies separately from the originals, and store digital copies in a secure, password-protected location. Do not leave sensitive documents openly accessible on a shared device or send them through unsecured channels. Also save important contacts outside your phone, including your airline, accommodation provider, insurance company, Nigerian diplomatic mission and a trusted person in Nigeria. WhatsApp can be useful, but it should not be your only backup. Before you travel, ask yourself: if I lose my phone, passport or luggage today, can I still access the information I need? Proper preparation can save you serious stress.
