FG Urges Nigerians to Practise Hygiene as Abuja Records Imported Ebola Case
The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to maintain regular hand hygiene, proper disinfection and close cooperation with health officials after an imported Ebola case was reported in Abuja. The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Salako, said personal health practices can help prevent and control infectious diseases. He stressed that self-care should support professional medical services, not replace the government’s duty to provide quality healthcare. He also called on state governments and health workers to include evidence-based self-care in public health programmes. The government says it will continue investing in health facilities, skilled personnel, essential medicines and referral systems.
