Anambra Command’s CP Orutugu Elevated to Assistant Inspector-General by PSC

The Police Service Commission has promoted Anambra State Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General. He is among 13 Commissioners elevated after written exams and interviews during the Commission’s plenary meeting in Abuja. The exercise also saw the elevation of 17 Deputy Commissioners, 28 Assistant Commissioners, and 33 Chief Superintendents, with 162 Assistant Superintendents confirmed in their current ranks. Since taking charge of Anambra State, CP Orutugu’s intelligence-driven operations have disrupted criminal gangs, ended major kidnap rings, and improved community policing. He has been commended for professionalism, stronger inter-agency collaboration, and regular security briefings that have bolstered public confidence.
