Enugu College Makes NELFUND Application Compulsory for Students Seeking Exam Clearance

Enugu State College of Education (Technical), Enugu, has directed all fresh and returning NCE and degree students to apply for the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for the 2026/2027 session. An internal memo dated October 6 states that every student must enrol for and access the loan scheme. Students were asked to visit the institution's NELFUND desk officer to apply. Students say officials later indicated that proof of NELFUND registration could be required for examination clearance. Some have objected, arguing that the loan should remain optional for students who can pay their fees directly. They are calling on the management to review the directive.
