RCCG’s Redeemer’s Health Village Launches Robotic Surgery to Reduce Medical Tourism
Redeemer’s Health Village has launched robotic-assisted surgery services in partnership with a United States-based medical technology firm. The initiative aims to improve access to advanced surgical care in Nigeria and reduce the need for patients to seek treatment abroad. Health stakeholders said robotic surgery can improve precision, reduce blood loss and help patients recover faster after complex procedures. They added that its success will depend on trained specialists, reliable infrastructure, regular training and collaboration between government, hospitals and private-sector partners. The 300-bed faith-based multispecialty hospital will also run a training academy to prepare Nigerian surgeons and support staff for safe robotic surgery practice. The Minister of State for Health said the development supports efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and retain foreign exchange spent on medical tourism.
