South West Youth Alliance Rejects Social Media Campaign Against AIG Olohundare
The South West Youth Alliance has condemned what it calls a deliberate smear campaign aimed at undermining Assistant Inspector-General of Police Jimoh Olohundare. The group insists the allegations of corruption against the senior officer are baseless. It highlights that original statements from key suspects were recorded months before the principal suspect’s arrest in Benin and remain part of the official court record. SWYA challenged social media activist Martins Vincent Otse to seek formal court joinder rather than conduct a trial online. It warned that public opinion should not override the judicial process and urged all parties to respect the court’s authority. The Alliance noted that the Directorate of Public Prosecutions has reviewed the evidence and recommended prosecution. It also pointed to a commendation given to AIG Olohundare for his professional conduct in the Ajiran murder investigation.
