Why I Left Christianity but Still Believe the Bible
I believe access to more historical information has made me question the version of Christianity passed down through colonial influence. For this reason, I no longer identify as a Christian, though I still consider myself a Bible believer. In my view, Christianity was used alongside slavery, colonialism and later forms of foreign control to harm African people. I also believe key biblical identities and messages were altered or misrepresented to weaken Africans and protect oppressors. A short video shared online discusses these concerns and asks whether Africans should simply forgive the harm linked to Christianity or critically examine its legacy. I believe this is a difficult but necessary conversation for Africans who are seeking spiritual truth.
