WAFCON 2026: Super Falcons Target Egypt Win to Reach Quarter-Finals, Says Madugu

Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu says Nigeria are focused on beating Egypt in their final Group C match to secure a place in the WAFCON 2026 quarter-finals. Nigeria sit third in the group on three points after losing 3-2 to Malawi and beating Zambia 1-0 despite playing much of the match with 10 players. Malawi lead with six points, while Zambia also have three points and Egypt are yet to earn a point. Madugu said the team has considered every qualification scenario but wants to avoid relying on other results. He added that the players are in high spirits and understand the importance of the Egypt clash. The coach also defended the inclusion of Francisca Ordega, saying experienced players can contribute to the squad even when they do not feature on the pitch.
