NBA Law Week Delays Arraignment of Gov. Okpebholo’s Ally for Assaulting Police Officer
The planned court appearance of Mr. Kelly Okungbowa, a close ally of Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, has been stalled. Okungbowa, known as Ebo Stone, was arrested on May 30, 2026. He allegedly slapped a police officer on duty along Upper Sakponba in Ikpoba-Okha. His arraignment was set for this week but was disrupted by the annual NBA Law Week programme. A source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed he was granted administrative bail. The case will resume once regular court proceedings are back. Efforts to reach the Edo State Police Command spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful. Earlier, the command reaffirmed that no one is above the law and urged respect for officers on duty.
