Olowolafe Outlines 10-Year Plan for Ekiti Industrial Growth, Skills and Innovation
Dr. Tunji Olowolafe has urged Ekiti State to turn its strong education culture and skilled population into jobs, industries and sustainable wealth. Speaking at the Ekiti at 30 Future Summit in Ado-Ekiti, he identified reliable power, vocational training and access to industrial and global markets as key priorities. He proposed renewable-energy microgrids across the state’s 177 wards to support schools, health centres, workshops and small businesses. He also called for expanded technical education in areas such as solar installation, welding, fabrication, machinery repair and food processing, with stronger partnerships between technical colleges and industry. Olowolafe said his foundation would support solar-powered ICT centres in Ekiti’s six government technical colleges, bring in international vocational-training experts and help modernise Ekiti State University’s geology department. He also urged greater value addition in cocoa and solid minerals, arguing that Ekiti should process more of its resources locally rather than export them in raw form.
