Owa Obokun to Launch Ijesa Mining Corporation for Local Development

Owa Obokun to Launch Ijesa Mining Corporation for Local Development — 1 of 2
1 / 2

The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has announced plans to establish the Ijesa Mining Corporation to harness local mineral resources and drive economic growth across the six local government areas. The new company will be co-owned by the six LGAs and the Owa Obokun palace, with revenue sharing that allocates 10% to host communities and the remainder for balanced development throughout Ijesaland. The monarch emphasised that local control of mining operations is vital for sustainable progress and urged traditional rulers to support security efforts against illegal activities. During a courtesy visit by the Alase of Ilase, Oba Isiaka Adesina Ajarabiolu, discussions also covered progress on Obokun University in Ilase and a boundary dispute with Osogbo.
