Carrick Questions VAR Decision to Award Haaland’s Derby Winner
Michael Carrick criticised the VAR decision that allowed Erling Haaland’s goal to stand in Manchester City’s 1-0 Premier League derby win over Manchester United at Old Trafford. The goal was initially ruled out for offside before a lengthy VAR review concluded that Patrick Dorgu had played Haaland onside. Carrick also disputed the view that an offside player near Lisandro Martinez had not interfered with play. City played much of the match with 10 men after Phil Foden was sent off for violent conduct. Despite the numerical advantage, United could not find an equaliser as City preserved their perfect start to the season.
