Etinan Institute Win Troost-Ekong Foundation Schools Football Tournament in Uyo
Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno has praised former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong for supporting grassroots football through his foundation’s secondary school tournament in Uyo. Speaking at the closing ceremony, the governor said the initiative aligns with the state’s drive to discover and develop young talents. He urged other successful Akwa Ibom indigenes to support youth development in their communities. Eight secondary schools took part in the second edition of the tournament. Etinan Institute defeated St Brian Model College 1-0 in the final to win the trophy and a ₦300,000 cash prize. The Troost-Ekong Foundation says it supports young people through football, education, skills development and community initiatives.
