PDP Members Can Back Tinubu for President and Oppose APC Elsewhere, Says Wike’s Aide

Lere Olayinka, spokesperson for FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, says PDP members can support President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid while still contesting against APC candidates in governorship, National Assembly and state elections. Speaking on a television programme, Olayinka argued that backing a presidential candidate from another party does not automatically amount to anti-party activity. He said political interests often differ across states, constituencies and local government areas. The remarks come as divisions persist within the PDP over Wike’s support for Tinubu. While one faction rejects any alliance with the APC, officials aligned with another PDP leadership faction have defended cooperation with the President.
