How Privacy Features Can Fuel Distrust in Relationships
Technology has made it easier for couples to stay connected, from instant replies to video calls. But the same tools can also create doubts when they are used to hide conversations or limit what a partner can see. Features such as hidden online status, disabled read receipts, disappearing messages and restricted status updates can protect genuine privacy. They are not proof that anyone is cheating. The problem begins when someone deliberately uses these settings to maintain different stories for different partners. A person may appear unavailable to one partner while giving attention and promises to someone else. Privacy is healthy in a relationship, but honesty still matters. Technology should not become a tool for deception or for making people question their reality.
