Tinubu Invites Pope Leo XIV to Nigeria in Push for Religious Harmony

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his eagerness to welcome Pope Leo XIV to Nigeria as he deepens efforts to promote religious harmony and tolerance. Speaking in Abuja while receiving Archbishop Paul Gallagher of the Holy See, Tinubu praised the Pope’s global peace initiatives and recounted his attendance at the Pontiff’s inauguration. He highlighted the Catholic Church’s role in education and healthcare, noting his decision as Lagos governor to return mission schools to their original owners. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting freedom of worship and urged faith leaders to continue advocating for peace. On security, Tinubu promised that the military’s successes against insurgents would continue alongside investments in youth development to curb radicalisation.
