42 Killed as Bandits and Cultists Rampage in Zamfara, Benue and Plateau
Gunmen killed at least 30 travellers along the Magami–Dansadau road in Zamfara State. Several other commuters were abducted before security forces drove the attackers into the bush. In Makurdi, Benue State, a violent clash between rival cult groups claimed ten lives and left many injured. Armed youths stormed homes in Wurukum and High-Level, forcing residents to flee in panic. On Plateau State’s Riyom Local Government Area, two Berom youths were ambushed and shot dead in Kyeng village. The Berom Youth Moulders Association condemned the killings and called on security agencies to pursue the perpetrators. These coordinated attacks across three states underscore the deepening security crisis in northwest and central Nigeria.
