Deadly Motorcycle Attack in Anguwan Rukuba Sparks 48-Hour Curfew

Deadly Motorcycle Attack in Anguwan Rukuba Sparks 48-Hour Curfew

Several residents are feared dead after armed gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on Anguwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area on Sunday, March 29. Witnesses say the attackers targeted a group of youths, killing an unspecified number before fleeing. In response to rising tension, angry youths blocked major roads across the community. The Plateau State Government then imposed a 48-hour curfew, starting at midnight, to prevent further violence. This measure was announced by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, who condemned the “barbaric and unprovoked” attack. Governor Caleb Mutfwang assured citizens that security forces have been deployed to restore order. He urged residents to cooperate by sharing any information that could help track down the perpetrators. The University of Jos also issued a safety advisory for staff and students living in the affected area.
