Karl Von Batten, a lobbyist linked to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has restored a social-media post announcing his appointment to a White House presidential commission. The post was restored about 24 hours after it was deleted. Von Batten had said he removed it after being informed that the Nigerian government repeatedly complained about the appointment. His firm’s verified account now says President Donald Trump appointed him on August 31, 2026, to serve on the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. The firm is also linked to investigations into allegations concerning President Bola Tinubu.
