Lagos Honours 506 Local Government Officers for Over 30 Years of Service

The Lagos State Government has honoured 506 officers of the Unified Local Government Service for more than 30 years of service. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, praised the officers at the 2026 Long Service Merit Award ceremony in Lagos. Sanwo-Olu said public service should be measured by its impact on residents, not merely by years spent in office. He commended the award recipients for serving through changes in leadership, technology and community needs. He urged younger public servants to learn from the honourees’ discipline, consistency and integrity. The 506 recipients include 492 senior officers and 14 junior officers.
