NAFDAC Recognises RSUTH as Clinical Research Site, Explores Global Trial Partnership
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has recognised Rivers State University Teaching Hospital as a model clinical research site following a two-day regulatory inspection. The inspection assessed compliance with study protocols, participant protection, research-data integrity and the hospital’s capacity to support clinical trials. NAFDAC said it is working to position Nigeria as a stronger hub for clinical research and reduce regional gaps in trial participation. RSUTH highlighted its 24-hour power supply, molecular laboratory, sanitation standards and verified patient records. The hospital has also proposed an agreement with NAFDAC to strengthen its status as a dedicated clinical-trial site and support research data relevant to African patients.
