Police Block Access to Abuja Venue for Turaki-led PDP Convention

Police have sealed off all access roads to the A-Class Event Centre in Wuse 2, Abuja, ahead of a special PDP convention organised by supporters of Tanimu Turaki. The action follows a warning from the Federal Capital Territory Minister against unauthorised political gatherings. Reports say vans and barricades were deployed on both the Wuse and Maitama axes, preventing party members and other road users from entering the venue. The PDP accuses the minister of pressuring venue management to cancel its booking despite full payment and compliance with requirements. The party says it notified security agencies in advance and has secured the venue for the planned date. PDP stresses its commitment to the rule of law and vows to resist any use of force to suppress political opposition. The party has instructed its legal team to uphold its agreement with the event centre and ensure the convention goes ahead as planned.
