Rivers State Son Arrested for Machete Killing of Father Over Property Dispute

A man has been arrested in Obio/Akpor for allegedly hacking his father, retired Marine Captain David Nwoke, to death with a machete during a row over inheritance. The victim had called his children to inform them of plans to relocate to the South-East and distribute some assets. His son demanded one of his father’s cars but was denied. Angry over the refusal, he ambushed his father on July 5 as he returned from a morning walk, inflicting fatal wounds. The housemaid and neighbours raised the alarm and alerted the Rumuokpani Police Division. The Rivers State Police Command says the suspect is in custody and will be charged to court once investigations conclude.
