Police Debunk Hoax Claim of Bandit Invasion in Ibeju-Lekki, Imota and Oke-Afo

Police Debunk Hoax Claim of Bandit Invasion in Ibeju-Lekki, Imota and Oke-Afo

The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed viral social media claims that armed bandits are attacking Ibeju-Lekki, Imota, Oke-Afo and other parts of the state. In an official statement, spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi described the reports as false, misleading and intended to cause unnecessary fear among residents. Adebisi assured the public that there is no security crisis or coordinated attack on any school or community. She noted that schools remain safe and that the Police alongside other security agencies maintain regular patrols and surveillance across Lagos. The false alarm tragically led to the death of a 24-year-old motorcyclist, Kulaha Ayuba, who was mistakenly accused of being a bandit and fatally assaulted by members of his community. Following swift Police action, fifteen suspects have been arrested and are under investigation. The Command warned against sharing unverified information capable of inciting panic, mob action or ethnic hatred. Residents are urged to confirm reports through official channels before reposting.
