Politico Reports Cyberattack After Publishing 2027 Election Projection
Nigerian online newspaper Politico says its website was hacked shortly after it published a projection of the 2027 presidential election. The publisher, Lai Omotola, linked the attack to backlash over the forecast, which projected President Bola Tinubu to win 20 states, Atiku Abubakar nine states and Peter Obi eight states. Opposition supporters and a spokesman for an opposition contender have criticised the projection as lacking credibility. Politico says its Political Intelligence Group will continue issuing monthly updates, stressing that the forecast is not final and could change as political events unfold.
