Kano Governor Urges Northern Presidential Hopefuls to Wait Until 2031

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has urged northern presidential hopefuls to wait until 2031 before contesting for the presidency. Speaking in Kano, Yusuf argued that Nigeria should maintain a rotational presidency arrangement, with each region allowed to complete two consecutive terms before power shifts. He called for support for President Bola Tinubu to complete a second term, saying this would allow the South to conclude its turn before power returns to the North. Yusuf also urged politicians to focus on policies, development and peaceful campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections.
