Ejiofor Urges DSS to Probe Kidnapping Networks After Imo NYSC Abduction
Human rights lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has called on the Department of State Services to investigate and dismantle kidnapping networks operating in the South-East following the reported abduction of NYSC members in Imo State. He urged security agencies to go beyond arresting suspects and use credible intelligence to identify alleged sponsors, supply chains and forest camps used by criminal groups. He also called for lawful, intelligence-led operations that protect innocent residents from arbitrary arrest and ethnic profiling. Ejiofor said the controversy over the corps members’ rescue, including disputed claims about ransom, should be clarified. He urged the authorities to investigate reported attacks and displacement in farming communities, secure vulnerable forests and enforce existing anti-open-grazing laws without blaming entire ethnic groups for crimes committed by individuals.
