FCT Says Wike Signed 26,272 Certificates of Occupancy in Three Years

The FCT Administration says Minister Nyesom Wike has signed 26,272 Certificates of Occupancy since President Bola Tinubu took office, compared with 8,697 issued between 2010 and 2023. The administration said many beneficiaries had waited more than 10 years after receiving land allocations. It added that land allottees can now receive their Certificates of Occupancy within two weeks of completing required payments, with automated notifications when documents are ready. It also reported granting 2,521 consents to assign and 177 consents to mortgage. Certificates of Occupancy and mortgage consents can help property owners use land as collateral for loans, mortgages and business expansion.
