Audit Flags ₦38.07m Irregularities, Unrecovered Vehicle at Federal College of Education Yola

An audit review has flagged ₦38.07 million in questioned transactions and an unrecovered government vehicle at the Federal College of Education, Yola, Adamawa State. The report queried ₦19.695 million in contracts for examination booklets, academic gowns and jackets allegedly approved by the provost above the stated ₦2.5 million approval limit, without evidence of higher approval. It also flagged ₦8.32 million budgeted for classroom renovation but reportedly spent on power supply and extension works. Five 2020 contracts worth ₦10.05 million, including supplies of public-address systems, academic gowns and clinic drugs, reportedly had no evidence of competitive bidding. The review also noted that a government-owned Peugeot 307 was allegedly taken by a former part-time council chairman without records showing it was formally allocated to the official. The findings raise concerns about procurement controls, accountability and the management of public assets at the institution.
