Bayelsa Assembly Aspirant Ikpaka Resigns From NDC Amid Primary Dispute Claims
Comrade Solomon Charles Ikpaka, an aspirant for the Ekeremor Constituency Three seat in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, has resigned from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). His resignation letter, dated September 19, 2026, was addressed to the party chairman in Eduwini Ward I, Ekeremor LGA. Ikpaka did not state a reason for leaving in the letter. However, sources in Ekeremor said he and other aspirants were dissatisfied after the party allegedly replaced a planned direct primary with a consensus arrangement shortly before the exercise. The sources alleged that the aspirants had spent money on campaigns and stakeholder consultations after being promised a direct primary. They said the party promised refunds after the change of plan but had not paid them. Ikpaka has not announced his next political move.
