Why a Kaduna Pastor Has Celebrated Maulud With Muslims for 11 Years
Kaduna-based Christian cleric Pastor Yohanna Buru says he has joined Muslims in celebrating Eid-el-Maulud for 11 consecutive years to promote religious tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. Buru, who led members of his church to this year’s celebration, said the occasion allows Christians and Muslims to interact, understand one another and build stronger relationships. He added that joining Maulud celebrations does not affect his Christian faith. He urged Nigerians to forgive past differences and work across religious and ethnic lines for a more peaceful country. Islamic scholars and other Christian leaders who attended also praised the interfaith initiative.
