Davido, Wealthy Nigerians and the Need to Defend Electoral Integrity

Davido’s reported appeal to Donald Trump over the Osun election raises a wider question about how wealthy Nigerians engage with politics. When an issue affects them directly, they often speak up quickly. But many appear detached from national problems such as insecurity, economic hardship and weak governance because they can afford private security and a comfortable life. I believe no one is fully safe when ordinary Nigerians are vulnerable. The outcome of the Osun election should matter beyond Osun, especially if there are concerns about electoral integrity ahead of 2027.
