ITF Plans 21st-Century Artisan Training as It Revives Jos Filling Station

The Industrial Training Fund says it is preparing a new generation of artisans with technical, entrepreneurial and professional skills to help close Nigeria’s skills gap. Its Nigeria Skills Academy will target secondary school students, combining trades training with entrepreneurship, ethics, safety and project management. The Fund also plans Digital Fabrication Centres for leatherwork, shoemaking, textiles and ceramics, alongside a West Africa Digital Fabrication Centre in Lagos. The initiative is intended to prepare young Nigerians for a technology-driven economy and promote self-reliance. At its Jos headquarters, ITF commissioned a rehabilitated filling station that had been inactive for years. The facility will serve official vehicles and staff, while 500 motorists received 10 litres of free petrol each during the commissioning.
