Bayelsa-Delta Militants Rebuke Slaboh: Pipeline Surveillance Isn’t Tompolo’s Exclusive Role
Leaders of the Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme beneficiaries from Bayelsa and Delta States have rejected General Elaye Slaboh’s claim that only Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) can handle the Niger Delta pipeline surveillance contract. They said the region is blessed with many skilled ex-agitators, security experts, and community-based surveillance groups capable of protecting critical oil infrastructure. They warned that suggesting a monopoly by one person undermines the collective sacrifices of other beneficiaries. The leaders reminded stakeholders that the amnesty programme was designed to reintegrate and empower thousands of former militants. They urged transparent, inclusive arrangements that involve all trained ex-agitators in security initiatives. They called for unity among ex-agitators and community leaders. They also appealed to each community to take responsibility for securing its own pipelines.
