Niger Delta Coalition Demands Evidence for Asari’s Allegations Against Olu of Warri
The Niger Delta Coalition has dismissed allegations by Mujahid Dokubo-Asari against the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, as unsubstantiated. It urged Asari to present documentary evidence for any claims involving the monarch, Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited or Tompolo. The group said unverified accusations could deepen ethnic suspicion at a sensitive time for relations among Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo communities. It noted that the Olu of Warri had previously called for calm and warned against violence. The coalition said accountability should be pursued through lawful institutions and due process. It urged regional leaders to avoid rhetoric that could undermine peace-building efforts in the Niger Delta.
