Ubani Condemns Otti’s ‘Fiscal Vandalism’ and Worker Neglect
Constitutional lawyer Onyekachi Godson Ubani has publicly accused Governor Alex Otti of reckless spending and opaque finances in Abia State. Speaking after renewing his ADC membership, Ubani said the administration prefers luxury travel over worker welfare. He noted that despite Abia’s ₦60 billion monthly revenue, over ₦18 billion has gone on private jets and frivolous trips. He called this a moral and constitutional failure that leaves workers in poverty. Ubani also challenged the half-hearted ₦70,000 minimum wage, pointing out that junior staff get as little as ₦29,000 and road sweepers ₦23,000. He highlighted that university professors earn roughly ₦520,000, far below peers, while families face school fees over ₦100,000. He questioned where the remaining ₦50 billion goes and decried ₦560 million monthly spent on media hype. He cited slow work on the Umuikaa–Owerrinta road and alleged ₦1.4 billion fraud in airport compensation, leaving pensioners unpaid.
