Ex-Tansian University Aide Rejects Fr. Obiorah’s Co-Founder Claim
Chidipeters Okorie, former PRO of Tansian University, told journalists in Abuja that Fr. Dr. Edwin Obiorah never co-founded the institution. He said the late Msgr. Prof. John Bosco Akam conceived, financed and established the university long before Fr. Obiorah’s involvement. Okorie explained that Akam secured support from foreign partners such as Dan W. Hill and Andrew Bowen, as well as Nigerian backers like Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka and Andy Ubah. He insisted Fr. Obiorah only joined in 2017 as an external legal adviser on a professional fee. Highlighting Akam’s academic record, Okorie noted his first-class honours in theology, doctorate in philosophy from Louvain, and leadership roles at major seminaries. He said Akam’s early educational ventures paved the way for Tansian University. Okorie added that the university received its provisional and operational licences in 2007 and is governed by a duly constituted board of trustees. “The facts speak for themselves,” he concluded.
