Pennsylvania Doctor Killed, Wife Critically Injured in Nighttime Home Attack
A pediatric critical care doctor, Dr. Idris Evans, was killed and his wife was critically injured after an intruder allegedly entered their home in Edgewood, Pennsylvania, and attacked them while they slept. Police said officers responded to a stabbing report shortly after midnight on Thursday and found the couple with multiple knife wounds. Evans was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His wife remains in critical condition. Investigators said the couple woke to find a man attacking them with a kitchen knife. Their two children, aged eight and 12, escaped to a neighbour's home unharmed. A 32-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, burglary and criminal trespass. Police are still investigating a possible motive and whether he knew the family.
