First Lady Launches 50 CNG Buses and ₦1bn Grant for 5,000 Edo Residents

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has commissioned 50 compressed natural gas buses in Benin City and launched a ₦1 billion economic empowerment programme for 5,000 Edo residents. Each beneficiary is expected to receive ₦200,000 to support small businesses, with women, youths and other vulnerable groups among the intended recipients. The state government says the initiative is aimed at improving financial independence and expanding economic opportunities. Governor Monday Okpebholo said the CNG buses would make public transport more accessible, affordable and environmentally friendly for residents.
