Oborevwori Says Delta Permanent Secretaries Earn ₦900,000 Monthly, Above His ₦503,000 Salary
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori says he earns a monthly salary of ₦503,000, while permanent secretaries in the state now receive ₦900,000. The Head of Service earns ₦1 million monthly, he added. The governor made the disclosure in Asaba while inaugurating 12 four-bedroom terraced duplexes and handing over official vehicles to newly appointed permanent secretaries. He said their salaries were increased after concerns that some directors earned nearly the same amount. Oborevwori also listed welfare measures for civil servants, including vehicle and housing loans, farm inputs and training. He said the state plans to begin paying a 13th-month salary from December and is preparing a bill to make it a legal entitlement. He urged public officers to avoid absenteeism, nepotism, bribery, waste and corruption, and said the newly appointed permanent secretaries were selected on merit.
