Lagos BDC Operator Jailed for Illegal Forex Transactions

A Lagos bureau de change operator, Dabo Malam Ardi, has been sentenced to two months in prison for conducting foreign exchange transactions outside the official market. Ardi pleaded guilty to a one-count charge brought by the EFCC before Justice F. N. Ogazi of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on August 4, 2026. The court convicted him after his guilty plea and gave him the option of paying an ₦80,000 fine instead of serving the prison term.
