Nigerian Man Fatally Injured in Lewisham Brawl; Suspect Charged with Murder

A 41-year-old Nigerian man, Taiwo Ekerin, died after suffering a head injury during an altercation on Lewisham High Street in London on 24 May. He was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service and taken to hospital, where he passed away on 30 May. Police arrested 32-year-old Maxwell Oguanaya on 4 June. He was charged with murder the next day, appeared at Ealing Magistrates’ Court, and is now remanded in custody. A second man, 34, also remains in custody on suspicion of murder. The case returns to court on 9 June.
