Doctors allegedly detected hypoplastic left heart syndrome during a 20-week scan. The serious congenital heart condition affects the development of the left side of the heart and may require several surgeries after birth. The surrogacy agreement reportedly allowed the intended parents to seek termination if a major fetal anomaly was found. West declined to terminate the pregnancy and later travelled to Texas, where she delivered a baby boy named Gabriel. The intended parents have sued, while West's lawyer has challenged the termination clause. The baby is receiving specialised medical care as courts consider the rights and responsibilities of both parties.
