Rivers Hoopers Beat Maktown Flyers in Overtime to Win 2026 NPBL Title
Rivers Hoopers are the 2026 Nigeria Premier Basketball League champions after completing an unbeaten Final Four campaign in Port Harcourt. The KingsMen sealed the title with a game to spare after defeating Gboko City Chiefs 88-76. They finished the playoffs with a thrilling 92-90 overtime win over Maktown Flyers, the side formerly known as Lagos Legends. The victory avenged Hoopers’ narrow loss to Maktown in last season’s final. Coach Ogoh Odaudu praised his players and supporters after the final buzzer. The title sends Rivers Hoopers back to the Basketball Africa League in 2027 after a one-season absence.
