JNI Denies Plans to Establish Hisbah in Jos North, Blames AI Images for Rumours

The Plateau State chapter of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has denied claims that any Muslim organisation plans to establish a Hisbah group in Jos North Local Government Area. JNI Secretary Dr Salim Musa Umar said no Islamic body in Plateau had made such an announcement. He said the controversy was fuelled by social-media posts, including alleged AI-generated images that suggested Hisbah had already been set up. Umar added that Hisbah cannot legally operate in Plateau without enabling legislation from the State House of Assembly. He urged the state government and social-media users to verify sensitive religious claims before sharing them, warning that misinformation could worsen tensions and disrupt peaceful coexistence.
