US Mother Charged Over Death of 2-Year-Old Son After Alleged ‘Antichrist’ Claim

A 40-year-old woman, Corie A. Walsh, has been charged over the death of her two-year-old son, Barrett Walsh, in Frankfort, Illinois. Authorities said a neighbour found the child hanging from a basement rafter on September 1, 2026. CPR was attempted before emergency workers arrived, but he was later pronounced dead from asphyxiation. Police allege Walsh said she believed the child was “the devil” and the “anti-Christ.” She was also found with self-inflicted cuts, while her three other children were unharmed. Her lawyers say she was experiencing psychosis and intend to pursue an insanity defence. The case remains before the court, which will determine her mental state and criminal responsibility.
